Deck Rebuild and Staining in Cherry Log

Gray is what a mountain deck turns when the stain gives out: the sun pulls the color, the rain works into the grain, and the wraparound walkway that sold you on the cabin starts to look older than the cabin itself. This Cherry Log place had great bones under all that gray, and the owners called us before the weather could finish what it started.

Wash first, then rebuild what the weather took

We started with a full pressure wash, partly for the stain to come and partly for the diagnosis: clean wood shows you exactly which boards are still sound. Most of this deck was. The runs that had gone soft came out entirely, and we rebuilt them with new pressure-treated lumber, from rim joists up to whole walkway sections.

The stain that brings it back

With the structure solid, every walkway, stair run, and the open deck got a deep brown stain that puts the color back while the grain still reads through. The change is easiest to see where it matters most: the long walkway your morning coffee walks every day.

Step back and the whole cabin reads finished again, decks matching the logs instead of arguing with them.

Cherry Log keeps us busy: we built a set of outdoor steps just down the road, and the full photo set from this deck lives in our portfolio alongside our other exterior staining work.

If your deck has gone gray, the wood is telling you where it’s headed. Catch it while it’s still a staining job.
